From Field Guide to Front Porch: The Old West End as Witness

Friday, July 10 | 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. | TMA Library

Join local historian Ted Ligibel for a lecture on Toledo’s Historic Old West End, one of the city’s most architecturally rich neighborhoods. Drawing on Virginia Savage McAlester’s A Field Guide to American Houses, this talk explores a range of American domestic architectural styles and their defining features. Participants will learn to recognize these elements and understand their historical context.

As part of the program, attendees are invited to select a favorite architectural style—whether from the book or personal observation, to discuss through the lens of McAlester’s guide.

The program will begin in the Library before moving to the Haigh Auditorium.
