Join Dr. David Guip for an insightful presentation exploring the artistry of the Anishinaabe people. Building on the Toledo Museum of Art’s recent exhibition Return to Turtle Island, this lecture examines traditional materials and techniques used by Anishinaabe artists and how contemporary creators have reimagined these elements in innovative ways. Dr. Guip will also provide an overview of the Detroit Institute of Arts exhibition Contemporary Anishinaabe Art: A Continuation (September 28, 2025–April 5, 2026), offering a broader perspective on the evolution and resilience of Anishinaabe art. Meet in the Library before proceeding to the Haigh Auditorium in the CVA.
