Step into the fascinating world of generative art and discover how some contemporary artists use mathematical principles, chance, and automation to create their work. Moving from examples from the 1960s—the conceptual art of Sol LeWitt, the geometric abstraction of Josef Albers, and the early computer art of Vera Molnár—to contemporary artists who program computer software and train their own artificial intelligence models, this tour will explore how artists collaborate with generative systems. You will have the opportunity to hear directly from several of the artists in the exhibition and experience interactive installations that bring the creative process to life!
This special tour will be led by Dr. Adam M. Levine, the Toledo Museum of Art’s Edward Drummond and Florence Scott Libbey President, Director, and CEO.
A scholar of ancient art, Dr. Levine is a transformative leader who believes in the power of museums as agents of change. Since becoming TMA’s eleventh director in 2020, he has brought a dynamic vision to one of the nation’s most respected cultural institutions, expanding its reach and impact through innovative strategies.
As part of the opening weekend celebration, guests may encounter unscripted appearances by artists featured in the exhibition along with unique, one-time-only experiences that will not be repeated during the run of the show. Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to see Infinite Images: The Art of Algorithms in a way only possible during opening weekend.
Exhibition admission is $10 for nonmembers and free for members. The guided tour is included with your admission at no extra charge.
Registration is required for the tour, as spots are limited. If you have registered but can no longer attend, please notify the museum as soon as possible to allow others to participate.Ticket Age Ranges
