Eid al-Fitr, or the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting, reflection, and community. Celebrate with the Museum for an evening filled with warmth, delicious food, and the beauty of Islamic art, as we honor the spirit of unity that makes this holiday so meaningful.

This gathering is open to all, whether you observe Eid or simply want to experience and learn about its cultural significance.

Enjoy a selection of halal traditional dishes from the Muslim world, featuring fragrant rice, meats, flavorful vegetarian options, and sweet treats, perfect for sharing with family, friends, and new acquaintances.

With your ticket an exclusive guided gallery tour is included of Opulent Echoes: Artistic Journeys in the 16th and 17th Centuries led by the exhibition’s curator Ahmad Rafiei. Explore masterpieces of Islamic art, including exquisite calligraphy, textiles, ceramics, and illuminated manuscripts, and gain insights into the cultural and artistic achievements of the Islamic world in a global context.

Ahmad Rafiei is an art historian specializing in the art and architecture of the Islamic world, with a particular focus on central Islamic world. He joined the Toledo Museum of Art in September 2022 as a Brian P. Kennedy Leadership Fellow. Before that, he taught art history at Texas Tech University School of Art, where he earned his Ph.D. His research explores the intersections of artistic traditions, cultural exchange, and materiality in Islamic visual culture.

This event welcomes guests of all ages. Please note that there are no discounted ticket prices for children. Children under 2 may attend at no cost and must sit on a parent’s lap. A formal meal will not be provided for them.
