Step into the complex world of Indigenous nation-building in the 18th century, where art, diplomacy, and community intersect by attending a tour with the curator, Dr. Johanna Minich.

Return to Turtle Island delves into the powerful social, political, and creative systems developed by Indigenous peoples long before and during their interactions with European settlers. This exhibition showcases significant Indigenous objects, many crafted by women, that once served as both treasured possessions and vital emissaries between nations. Highlighting the collection’s return from Scotland to the Toledo Museum of Art, Return to Turtle Island honors these objects’ journeys and celebrates their legacy as cultural ambassadors.

On the opening day of the exhibition, Dr. Minich will lead exclusive tours that provide a deeper understanding of these extraordinary pieces and the sovereignty they represent. Join us for this unique opportunity to engage with the art and history.

Registration for this tour is required. If you have signed up and are no longer able to attend, please inform the museum at your earliest convenience.
