The Real Housewives of Classic Court: Public Tour
Friday, February 28 | Classic Court
Times:
3:00–3:45p.m.
6:00–6:45p.m.

"The Real Housewives of Classic Court" explores the lives of remarkable women behind many treasures in the Toledo Museum of Art's Classic Court – patrons, collectors, and subjects whose wealth and influence often rivaled that of their modern reality TV counterparts. While their freedom to act was often limited by the restrictive norms of their societies, figures like Ankhet of Giza, Volusia Irene of Rome, and Umm’abi of Palmyra still crafted lasting legacies. This tour reveals how their portraits and monuments reflect power, identity, and resilience in the ancient world.

Guests on this tour will have the opportunity to explore the following remarkable works: the Egyptian statue of Raramu and Ankhet, a Greek wine cup depicting a woman offering a sacrifice, a Roman portrait bust of a Flavian woman, and a Roman funerary altar dedicated to Mystes and Dorius. The tour will be led by Roko Rumora, the Assistant Curator of Ancient Art at the Toledo Museum of Art.

Registration for this tour is required. If you have signed up and are no longer able to attend, please inform the museum at your earliest convenience.
