This course will involve the manipulation of non- ferrous materials (i.e. copper sheet and bar stock) through a combination of general forging , low relief die production and forging/ embossing application. Assembly techiques will include both solderd fabrication and cold joinery to create a functional /sculptural "palm sized" vessel. The observation and influenece of other craft materials (i.e. clay, wood, fabric, leather, etc.) along geometric and organic patterning will be emphasized. Other topics covered will include surface finish and patina options. Students should plan to leave the workshop with the tooling they made and at least one finished vessel.
