The Power of Ideology
Thursday November 21 | 4:00-6:00p.m. | Classroom 128
Art is influenced by the social, political, and economic structures within society. Artists make choices to conform to dominant ideologies or to challenge them in their work. In this workshop educators will explore our Expanding Horizons: The Evolving Character of A Nation exhibition among other works of art to look at how art can reinforce specific ideologies, patriotism, power structures, and social ideologies. Using visual thinking strategies to connect with the ideologies in our TMA collection teachers will explore how to encourage students to explore multiple viewpoints throughout history.
Teachers of all subjects and grade levels, including pre-service teachers, are welcome. Content is adaptable for all ages and refreshments are provided.
Teacher Professional Development Workshops are sponsored by PNC Foundation
