This is studio metalsmithing at its finest! In this class, students will be instructed on the mokume-gane making process from beginning to end; A-Z. We will start with raw materials that make for suitable billets of nickel silver and copper, proper cleaning instruction, firing and billet diffusion instruction, post diffusion processing, in-depth demonstrations of popular patterning processes of stock removal and deformation, and the tools required. Students will have the opportunity to use their finished mokume-gane to create a finished piece of jewelry or use for their choosing. How could you use your mokume-gane?!
Tedd has taught both university courses and independent, intensive workshops on the ancient Japanese technique of mokume-gane for over 22 years.
