I Like to Move it, Move it (Kinetic Boro Sculpting)

Instructor: Eli Kan

Students will learn the fundamentals of making kinetic sculptures and jewelry with borosilicate glass. In this flameworking class, students will learn how to make borosilicate necklace chains, pendants and rings that are able to spin or move independently through glass pins, gears and loops. It is helpful to know how to make cold seals and how to heat the glass precisely. No experience necessary. This is an introductory class.

Flameworking involves precisely shaping hot glass using a torch and tools. Students can expect to be in front of bright light and will need to wear shaded safety glasses which will be provided.  Flameworking is mildly to moderately strenuous as students will need to consistently turn the glass in the flame throughout the class.

5 Wednesdays September 30th – October 28th

or  5 Wednesdays November 4th – December 2nd
6:30-9:30 pm

Location: Flameworking Studio, Glass Pavilion

(10% off members / $255 nonmembers)

For safety reasons, parents/guardians who have a student taking the class under the age of 15 must drop off and pick up the student directly at the classroom door. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
